Goodwood Festival of Speed: Our Experience Two of the biggest Goodwood events take place within the space of a month and Hardham Road Post Office & News have the pleasure of providing all newspapers for these events. But what are the Goodwood events and why should you be attending?
Hardham Road Post Office & News attended the Goodwood Festival of speed from the 12 th – 15 th July, experiencing thrilling races and huge prize money. Festival of Speed
The 2018 Festival of Speed took place last weekend, lasting 4 days and celebrating the 25 th anniversary of the event. With the first ever Festival of Speed taking place in June 1993, this was the Silver Jubilee, having established itself as one of the best celebrations of motorsport.
Whilst tickets for the 2019 festival are already available for motorsport lovers to enquire about, the 2018 Festival of Speed was a fantastic celebration for all petrol heads. With Formula 1 drivers and racing legends joining together at the festival, this an event that many fail to match. Porsche marked its 70
th year anniversary and this legendary car brand was one of the main focuses over the weekend. Hillclimb vehicles are used for Goodwood’s main Hillclimb race and we had a glimpse of the future with Volkswagen’s all-electric I.D. R setting new records for the event. With the event now over, fans will be hoping for the same adrenaline and excitement at the 2019 Festival of Speed, as they count down the days until it begins. The Goodwood Estate
The Goodwood estate is a beautiful location and the perfect venue for the Festival of Speed and all festivals that are held here. It has over 12,000 acres of space and for three centuries has been under the ownership of the Dukes of Richmond. With this being the 25
th anniversary of the Festival of Speed, the Duke of Richmond chose his top 25 moments from each year of the event. There are several areas to the Goodwood estate, with different sections being the venue for the festivals that take place here. Some of the main areas to the Goodwood estate include: Goodwood House Goodwood Racecourse Home Farm Hound Lodge The Downs Course The Goodwood Hotel The Kennels The Park Course
With such a huge amount of space and beautiful scenery from every part of the estate, Goodwood is the perfect location for every event.
Hardham Road Post Office & News have a big challenge for all Goodwood events. With the popularity of the Festival of Speed, ensuring papers are delivered on time means an early start to avoid the traffic. However, this doesn’t take the gloss away from the Festival of Speed as the event remains a fantastic feature for our team to take part in. There was an array of stunning vehicles on show during the Festival of Speed, with enthralling races and new records being broke. It is a pleasure to have the chance to attend this event, whilst having a great view of the entire estate. One of our personal highlights from this view is the animals that can be seen across the grassland of the estate, adding to the incredible sights this venue creates during the festival.
